Queensland power company
PKI system design
A large Queensland power company engaged Castelain to assist in designing a new Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
The power company wanted to manage their desktops and network devices through the usage of digital certificates, to ensure that only their devices had access to the network. They also had a future plan to expand the infrastructure to issue certificates to users for network authentication, and to enable the use of digital signatures.
Castelain worked with the project stakeholders to capture both the immediate and future requirements for the infrastructure. Castelain was able to explain and discuss the various technical issues and considerations with the business stakeholders and facilitate the decision-making process.
Based upon these requirements, Castelain developed an architecture for the new PKI and presented the energy company with options for how the solution could be implemented. The energy company had a strong preference for using one particular vendor’s product, and Castelain provided a customised design based on this solution.
Castelain’s depth of experience in the analysis and design of PKIs provided this energy company with a scalable and highly functional solution, whilst including all of their required workflow and control elements.
